I had an Tom cat and of course I called him big Tom not very original I must admit, but the name suited him well.
Poor old Big Tom had been through the wars some mean person, had kicked him in the stomach and my neighbour had found him and I nursed him back to health, only to have him run out in front of a car and have his jaw broken, poor Big Tom didn't have much luck but he was my faithful, affectionate friend,
fortunately he survived but had to have his jaw wired so it took him a long time to recover. It had left him slightly cross-eyed and a little brain damaged but he still was the most loyal and affectionate cat i have known. One day I had a very heated argument with my husband and I was so distressed that I took off across the road and went for a very long walk I was sitting on a park bench quite a way from my house when I heard a miow! I looked up and there was Big Tom he had followed me all the way to the park he jumped up on my lap and started to smooch up to me ans if he knew I was very upset, It really touched me that he had followed me to see if I was alright ! and you know it didmake me feel so much better I picked him up in my arms and went home. Seeing us both coming up the road my husband came out and hugged me and apologised. I t was as if he had a healing effect on us all. He had such a beautiful nature. Unfortunstely he has passed away now but I will never forget his kindness towards me! Out of respect for Big Tom and all other cats I now am trying to promote the prevention of kitten death by telling people about it in my live journal.
