The Cat Came Back

When I was alittle child, we had cat named Tom ( he was a tomcat ). When he was a young cat about a year old he was hit by a car. Before we had a chance to get him he disappeared.

We searched everywhere and asked everyone if they saw him. Nobody did.

We gave up hope of ever seeing him again. We thought for sure he ran off to die ( like alot of cats do).

Well one year later ( exactly) I was looking out our window and I saw this cat walking up out driveway. I rubbed my eyes because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Here was Tom. He walked funny and when I went out to him, he gave a funny cry. Not like most cats but more of a squeak noise. I screamed out to my mom to come quick.

We did the unusual back then and took him to the vet. Xrays showed he had broken his back but had healed. The vet figured it happened about a year ago. He also said that is why he " cried" the way he does now.

I didn't care. We had him back and he never went away again. Tom lived to be 24 yrs old and turned out to be a very loving cat that is thought of very much to this day.

Wow - 24 years! We had one that lived to be 22, and our vet said that was the oldest cat he had personally known.

I'm so glad Tom came back home, and so glad that he lived so long.
