A photographer client of mine produces yearly calenders and this year, one of the calenders features animal photos. There is a little quote to go along with each monthly photo; July's quote, accompanying a wondeful photo of a cat, simply states- "A cat's purr: the best cure for stress". Well I couldn't agree more!
Norm (a stunning 5 month old domestic, whom I suspect has some Russian Blue in him) has chosen to join our family and he now sleeps on the end of our bed.
One night when we both had to get up a couple of times each to tend to our aged Kelpie cross, Norm remained undsiturbed, just lifting his head slighlty before going back to sleep.
At one stage during the night my partner had a terrible nightmare and while I was trying to calm him, Norm moved over and placed himself on top of my partner, purring loudly.
It seemed to me, Norm was helping calm my partner down. He didn't move the four other times we got up during the night but chose to come over right at that moment when my partner needed it.

How true this is! There is no empathy or comfort like a cat's. Their intuition is remarkable.
Cats are especially empathetic. My three wonderful cats know a day in advance that I'm about to have a migraine ... I rarely know before it's arrived. Now, I can use them as a "barometer" and be prepared.
