I volunteer at a horse farm four days a week, helping clean paddocks, feed and groom the horses, and all the other odd jobs. The lady who owns the farm has two different farms, the one that I work at, where there is between two and six horses at any one time, and one about 100 kilometers away, where there are over twenty horses. The other farm is where she breeds them, and the farm I work at is where she trains them.
Since it is coming into spring now, all last year's foals are ready to be broken in, so there is quite a few of them coming down to the farm I help at. One particular one is a funny little guy. He is really smart, and was broken in within a couple of weeks. But that's not the funny part about him. He has this rubber ball, similar to the ones you tie on a tree for dogs to play with. It has a handle on it, and he plays football! He picks up the ball by the handle, and throws it around. If a person is standing nearby, he will toss it to the person, but if there is no people around, he tries to play with the other horses! Of course, they give him funny looks, as though saying "What on earth, do you expect that WE are going to play your silly games?"
This little foal also uses his ball to get attention. When I am riding one of the other horses, he picks up the ball and gallops around his paddock, shaking his head and making the ball flop around in his face. He also kicks it around, then pretends to be scared stiff of it, running to the opposite side of the paddock and staring at it!
He has gone back to the breeding farm now, and I miss his antics. But I'm sure he will be back soon, and hopefully he won't have lost that playful streak!
