In Memory of Minky
I got Minky at the age of 10 weeks old from the Gateshead Branch of Cats Protection. It was June 2005. I thought Minky would be an ideal companion for my 1 year old cat Jinx. Minky and Jinx had their ups and downs but generally got along fine, Minky was probably just a little to boisterous for Jinx at times as she used to dive off the dining room table on top of him, or dive on him if I decided to stroke him! Minky however was her mammy's cat every where I went she followed, I couldn't even go to the toilet without her having to come with me. She was also very vocal and would chunter and meow to me about anything. If she had been upstairs asleep and I was sitting downstairs she would come in to the sitting room and would churp to me as if to say hello, I'm back. Minky really was my shadow, so you can imagine how devasted I was to find her off colour on 5 May 2007. I took her to the vets immediately, after tests and time on a drip the vets told me she had been posioned somehow (they didn't know what the cause was) and that her kidneys were failing and there was nothing they could do for her. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to Minky that day, she was only two years of age. I felt like my heart was breaking. Even now as I write this story as it is coming up to the anniversary of her death, I still miss her so much as she was always around me, my constant companion. She really was the best little girl cat in the world.
