Glimpy

In the late summer of 2004, my husband and I noticed a crow limping around the front lawn under the big pine tree. He could still fly down from the tree with no prblems. Each day I would put out bread and leftovers for him. My neighbour Kathy steel , who lived 4 doors from me, had also noticed a crow limping around, and had started feeding him. Kathy and I started calling him gimpy. In late Nov as winter was approaching we were both concerned Gimpy wouldn't survive the winter. The other crows had long ago abandoned him. We both thought if he had a good diet of meat and bread he might have a chance of getting through the winter. in late feb when the temp fell to 10 below i noticed Gimpy shivering and very sad siting on the llower branch of the pine tree. i expected to see find him on the ground in the snow any morning now. Imagine my surprise one very cold morning to see another crow sitting close to him wings wrapped around him,to keep him warm. His new partner knew he needed help, and they sat huddled to-gether the rest of the wiinter. Over the summer they stated flying over the golf course behind our house , always circling back to our house and Kathy's to eat. By late fall Kathy and I didn't see them anymore.

f.t. needs to pay more attention in school. Apostrophes are easy. Sentences are easier still.

I liked your story, Marlene, birds are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Paws up!!

I really enjoyed your story!! I've always heard that crows are very intelligent animals. We put out corn to feed the deer in our woods, and often get to enjoy watching the crows eat it also.

Just ignore the negative comments - this is a story site, not a grammer site. :)

This is a nice story, that shows humans aren't the only ones capable of displaying empathy. Hopefully, Gimpy and friend made a life elsewhere.
